On 29 April and from 4 May to 6 May 2026, Japan will be celebrating ‘Golden Week’ - a set of national holidays that happen every year.
During this period, the Tokyo Stock Exchange (JPX) will be closed on the following dates:
- Wednesday 29 April 2026
- Monday 4 May 2026
- Tuesday 5 May 2026
- Wednesday 6 May 2026
Trading in Japanese equities (Japanese company shares) and bonds will re-open on Thursday 7 May 2026.
If you invest in non‑insured funds on Aegon Retirement Choices (ARC) and the Aegon Platform
As weekends and bank/public holidays aren’t considered working days, there is no trading on these days. If you invest in a fund or funds that invest in a large amount of underlying Japanese assets (company shares and bonds) you’ll not be able to buy, sell or switch your investment during this period. You can still view your investments online during this time by logging in to your online account.
If you invest in Aegon insured Pension and Life funds
You can still buy, sell, switch and take money out as normal.
If the Tokyo Stock Exchange (JPX) is closed, we’ll use a ‘stale price’ for any affected funds. This means we’ll use the most recent price available before the holiday and keep using it until the Tokyo Stock Exchange (JPX) re-opens on Thursday 7 May 2026.
If you invest in Aegon insured funds on TargetPlan
You can still buy, sell, switch and take money out as normal.
We’ll use the price we receive when the Tokyo Stock Exchange (JPX) re‑opens on Thursday 7 May 2026. We’ll then apply that to all the days the market was closed, covering the full non‑trading period.
The value of an investment can fall as well as rise and isn’t guaranteed. You could get back less than you invest.
