On 1 April 2023 we updated the name of the Aegon BlackRock Global Property Securities (BLK) fund to the Aegon BlackRock Environment & Low Carbon Tilt Property Securities (BLK) fund across all share classes available via the Aegon TargetPlan fund range.

The fund’s objective and benchmark were also updated. Nothing else about the fund will change because of this.

The changes in more detail

The underlying fund manager, BlackRock, updated the fund name to reflects the fund’s increasing focus towards environmental, social and governance ‘ESG’ considerations. To make sure our version of the fund matches the underlying fund, we updated it.

Fund benchmark and objective changes

Benchmarks are used to measure a fund’s performance against similar types of investments, similar markets or regions. The fund objective explains how the fund invests and what it’s trying to achieve for investors.

The underlying fund manager, BlackRock, has updated the benchmark to incorporate certain ESG considerations. The objective has also been updated. To make sure our version of the fund matches the underlying fund, we updated it.

Old fund objective
The fund aims to provide a return on your investment (generated through an increase in the value of the assets held by the fund) by closely tracking the performance of the FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Developed Index. The fund invests in equity securities (shares) of companies that make up the benchmark index. The benchmark index measures the performance of equity securities of leading property companies listed globally. Derivatives and forward transactions may be used for the purposes of efficient portfolio management.
