For Entry Careers, we’re more interested in your potential and behaviours than what’s listed on your CV. Our assessment process is designed to give you the chance to show us who you are - not just what you’ve done.

Stage One: Interactive Assessment

Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll receive an email inviting you to complete a short series of interactive tasks. These are designed by our trusted partner,  Arctic Shores, and aim to give us a better understanding of your skills, behaviours, and how you approach different situations.

If you’re successful at this stage, you’ll be invited to a conversation with one of our Talent Acquisition Consultants. This chat will focus more on how you think and respond to various scenarios, rather than your experience.

We pride ourselves on supporting all candidates and sharing constructive feedback where we can. If you’re unsuccessful at this stage you will receive a detailed report on your performance with suggestions to support performance at future assessments.’

Stage Two: Assessment Centre

For some roles, you may be invited to attend an  Assessment Centre  at one of our offices in  Edinburgh, Peterborough, or Witham.

What to expect?

Over to a 2-hour period, you’ll take part in a series of short exercises based on a fictional organisation, CRAFT (aka the Creative Resistance Against Forgery & Theft). These may include:

  • A  situational interview  - hypothetical questions  instead of focusing on your experience
  • A  mock customer conversation
  • A  group task

There’s no need to prepare anything in advance. However, we do recommend watching the video about CRAFT below and familiarising yourself with our purpose and core behaviours, as these will help guide your approach during the session.

FAQs

The tasks are based on real science from cognitive neuroscientist and are designed to show how you naturally behave in different situations. There’s no right or wrong way to complete them - just be yourself! Your results will give us a clear and fair picture of your potential and you’ll also receive your own personalised report based on your results!

Instead of answering questions, you’ll complete interactive tasks that capture thousands of data points about how you think and behave. This helps us see your true strengths and reduces bias, giving everyone a fair chance to shine.

Your results help us look beyond your CV and understand how well you might fit the role and our culture. We compare your results to a wider group to see how you stack up, which helps us make fair and informed decisions.

We want everyone to have a fair experience. If you have a disability or need adjustments, please contact the support email in your invitation before starting the assessment. Let us know what you need, and we’ll make sure the right support is in place.

Testimonials

We recognise the importance of feedback and it goes both ways, candidates have shared the feedback below on our assessments.

The assessment centre was a really interesting and intense experience. It was a full day of various exercises designed to test different skills like problem-solving, teamwork, and communication. We had individual tasks, group discussions, and even role-play scenarios to simulate real work situations. The atmosphere was professional but also collaborative – everyone was encouraged to bring their best ideas forward. What I appreciated most was how it wasn’t just about answering questions, but about how you approach challenges and work with others. It really gave me a chance to show my strengths and get a feel for what the role and company culture would be like.

I have never had an interview experience with this much human touch and activities. All the interviewers were really helpful and kind.

It was a certainly a unique experience I had never been involved in before. It was an interesting way for myself to be assessed but also for me to reflect on my own strengths and weaknesses and how I would handle situations that were being presented.

Every section of the assessment was well tailored to allowing the candidate to be relaxed and express themselves.

It was more fun than a usual interview, and gave great insight into what the company is like as a whole.

I think other places are all about the job, no one really gets to know you as a person. I liked how this assessment process was about knowing who I am and not about what I have done in the past.
