Aegon UK is led by Adrian Grace, Chief Executive, and a team of well-respected industry figures with wide-ranging expertise and years of financial experience.
Adrian is responsible for driving the business forward, putting customers at the heart of everything Aegon does and transforming the business with propositions that meet customers’ needs. He also works closely with shareholder, Aegon NV, to ensure that strategy in the UK supports the ambitions of the global company and with regulators, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA), to ensure Aegon has the right governance and controls in place to operate in the right way.
Adrian joined Aegon UK in 2009, as group business development director, and became CEO on 4th April 2011.
Before moving to Aegon UK, Adrian was managing director of commercial within Corporate Division at HBOS; a role he held since 2009. His career began at Leeds Permanent Building Society in 1979, before moving to Mercantile Credit in 1984, and again to Sage Group PLC as managing director of the Small Business Division in 2001. In 2004 Barclays Insurance asked Adrian to join them as chief executive.
Adrian has been a member of the Global Management Board for Aegon N.V. since February 2012 and is also a non-executive director of Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE).
David Beattie, who was Customer Services Director has been appointed Managing Director responsible for Aegon’s non-advised channel.
Now that the initial set up phase for Retiready is over, and the channel is up and running, David will take responsibility for growing the service to the non-advised market.
David will report to Chief Executive Adrian Grace and his appointment is subject to approval by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Commenting on the appointment David Macmillan, Chief Marketing Officer of Aegon UK said: “From his time as our Customer Services Director, David’s understanding of our servicing capability makes him well placed to oversee the development of our non-advised channel. In our recent Q2 results we reported significant growth of our platform and the continued roll out of auto-enrolment, which serve our core audience of advisers and employers. With David’s appointment we have put in place someone with the experience and technical knowledge to expand our platform into our newest channel.”

Steven is responsible for regulatory and legislative analysis, and for lobbying on behalf of Aegon UK and the life and pensions industry. Steven delivers internal and external insight into how proposed changes will impact the industry with the aim of influencing the outcome of major regulatory and legislative decisions.
Steven joined Aegon UK in 1996. An actuary by profession, Steven has almost 30 years of experience in financial services, and has held various roles at Aegon UK including head of pensions and marketing actuary.
Steven represents Aegon on a number of committees for the Association of British Insurers, including the Long Term Savings and Life Insurance Committee. He is also a member of Scottish Financial Enterprise’s Insurance, Life & Pensions Sector Policy Group.
Nick is responsible for shaping Aegon’s investment proposition, the fund range, and leading its relationships with fund managers. Nick’s team also develop and launch new investment solutions.
Nick has been Investment Director at Aegon since September 2013.
Following a successful consulting career in the oil & gas sector Nick moved into financial services with Skandia in 2002, working as strategy director between 2002 and 2007 and marketing director between 2007 and 2013.
He is passionate about investments, the positive role of savings in the UK, and the importance of making investments clear for customers.

Dougy is responsible for re-energising the Aegon UK Protection business, driving improved customer and shareholder outcomes.
Dougy joined Aegon in 1998 as a graduate in the Actuarial Department. Since qualifying as an Actuary in 2001, he has since held various senior roles in finance, marketing and sales, including a short spell with Aegon in the USA.
Dougy also spent time as an associate director at PwC, where he worked on various capital and risk management projects with Global Insurers, before returning to Aegon UK in 2011 as Head of Finance Transformation. In 2012 he became Retail Strategy Director where he was responsible for transforming Aegon’s distribution capability, before taking up the role of Protection Director in February 2014.
Martin is responsible for supporting customers in their understanding of the ever changing landscape of pensions and tax legislation, and for identifying and communicating key sales opportunities to advisers and their introducers.
Martin joined Aegon UK straight from school in 1983 and has over 30 years of experience in the pensions industry.
He is a central contributor to the technical zone on Aegon’s adviser site, and, as an expert on the technical development of the life and pensions industry, regularly shares his insight with a range of adviser publications.
Duncan is responsible for directing sales operational effectiveness for Aegon in the UK, and more specifically for the delivery of platform and product sales through intermediary and partnership channels.
Duncan joined Aegon UK in 1986 and has since worked in a number of sales roles in various locations across the UK.
Prior to joining Aegon, Duncan worked as a Lloyd’s insurance broker, placing North American non-marine insurance directly in the market.
Duncan is on Aegon UK’s senior management team and chairs the Retail Management Committee. He is also a member of the Aegon UK Insurance Executive Committee and the Investment Committee.
Lou is responsible for the business development and implementation of the ARC platform.
Lou joined Aegon in March 2012 from AXA.
Lou spent 12 years as a management consultant, mainly in Financial Services with the likes of Zurich Financial Services, before taking up senior management role at AXA in 2001. At AXA, Lou was responsible for training and business consultancy support for advisers adopting the Elevate platform.
Lou’s specialist areas of expertise include marketing, business planning, financial management and people development.
Angela is responsible for Aegon’s strategic corporate relationships and for establishing market leadership positions with employee benefit consultants and corporate independent financial advisers (IFAs).
Angela joined Aegon UK in May 2012 as a senior adviser and took up the position of Managing Director, Workplace Solutions on 1st December 2012.
Prior to joining Aegon UK, Angela was CEO of RAC where she spearheaded the company toward its sale to private equity.
Previously Angela worked for Aviva as Distribution Director of the life and investment business, and general insurance business in the UK. She is also a Non-Executive Director at Rentokil Initial and Henderson Group.
Kate is responsible for regulatory and legislative analysis, and lobbying both government and regulators on workplace pension issues to deliver good outcomes for customers. Kate’s current focus is customer-centric pension scheme governance and the ‘at retirement’ market.
Kate joined Aegon UK in August 2007.
Prior to joining Aegon, Kate worked at Mercers, PWC, Friends’ Life, Aviva and in South America for a local savings bank. She has over 25 years of pension industry experience.
Kate is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. She also represents Aegon on a number of ABI committees including the Retirement and Savings Committee.
