Headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, where we began over 185 years ago as Scottish Equitable, Aegon UK has around 3,000 employees, each and every one of them committed to helping people take responsibility for their financial future.

In 2017, our group was complemented through the acquisition of Cofunds, bringing a team of skilled and experienced investment platform professionals based in Witham, Essex.

Aegon UK is led by Adrian Grace, Chief Executive, and a team of well-respected industry figures with wide-ranging expertise and years of financial experience.

Adrian started his career with Leeds Permanent Building Society in 1979, before joining Mercantile Credit in 1984. In 2001, Adrian joined Sage Group PLC as Managing Director of the Small Business Division. In 2004 Barclays Insurance asked Adrian to join them as Chief Executive.

Adrian joined Halifax Bank of Scotland in 2007 as Managing Director of Commercial Banking within Corporate Division. In 2009, Adrian joined Aegon UK as Group Business Development Director and on 4 April 2011 became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aegon UK & Ireland. Following the transfer of Cofunds Retail customers in May 2018, Adrian has taken up the role of CEO of Scottish Equitable Plc, Cofunds Ltd, and Aegon UK Plc.

He’s been a member of the Global Management Board for Aegon N.V., Aegon's parent company, since February 2012. Adrian is a Non-Executive Director of Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank and is the RemCo Chairman.

Stephen McGee - Chief Financial Officer

Stephen was appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in October 2016, a role he'd held on an interim basis from August of that year.

Prior to becoming CFO, Stephen was a key part of the finance leadership team, including as Finance Director for Existing Business as well as leading a strategic review of the business in his time as Commercial Programme Director. Stephen joined Aegon UK in 2014 from Lloyds Banking Group where he was Chief Actuary.

Stephen has been in the insurance industry since graduating from university in 1994 - spending most of his time prior to Lloyds in senior finance and actuarial roles at Phoenix Life Group.

Jim Ewing - Chief Risk Officer

Jim joined Aegon UK in 2011 as Chief Actuary and became Chief Risk Officer in 2014. Prior to this he was Solvency II Director at Lloyds Banking Group for two years. Jim has been in the insurance industry since training as an actuary at Scottish Widows in 1992. Jim was also Chair of the Board of Stevenson College, Edinburgh for a number of years.

Management teams

Mark Till, Managing Director - Digital Solutions

Mark has a broad commercial role, and is responsible for all aspects of the Aegon UK business revenue and proposition for intermediaries and their customers.

Prior to joining Aegon UK, Mark was Head of Personal Investing for Fidelity. He joined Fidelity from Standard Life where he was Head of UK Marketing. Prior to this, he worked for Barclays for 22 years in Banking, Sales and Marketing roles.

Mark focuses on business opportunities where the challenge is to achieve a significant improvement in results.  His passionate belief is that this can only be achieved by doing the right thing for intermediaries, customers and employees, which in turn, creates benefits to shareholders and the wider community.

Dougy Grant, Chief Operating Officer - Existing Business

Dougy’s career began with Aegon UK in 1998 and, since qualifying as an actuary in 2001, has held leadership roles in finance, marketing, sales and general management, including a short spell with Aegon in the USA. Dougy had a break from Aegon taking on a role as an associate director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, before returning to Aegon UK in 2011 as Head of Finance Transformation. 

In 2012, he became Retail Strategy Director, before taking up the role of Protection Director in 2014. As Protection Director his key target was to increase new business volumes over two years. Now, Managing Director of Existing Business, Dougy is responsible for driving improved outcomes for our 1.4 million Existing Business customers, and for driving shareholder value. Dougy has been in his role since June 2016. He is also CEO of Stonebridge International Insurance Limited having taking this additional role in June 2019.

Ed Dymott, Managing Director for Transformation, Innovation and Growth

Ed joined Aegon UK as Managing Director of Transformation, Innovation and Business Development in November 2018. He's responsible for strategic planning and ensuring the business is at the forefront of changes in intermediary and customer needs, technology and industry developments.

Prior to joining Aegon UK, Ed worked at Fidelity International for over 15 years and brings a combination of deep industry knowledge and a track record of aligning businesses with emerging trends and opportunities. 

He oversees the delivery of activity to create new capabilities within the business exploring new technologies and propositions, keeping a close eye on developments being made by financial technology companies in the UK and across the world.

Ronnie Taylor - Chief Distribution Officer

Ronnie joined Aegon in May 2018 as Chief Distribution Officer.  He is an experienced business leader in distribution and business development with a strong track record in UK financial services.  Previous roles include Distribution Director at Scottish Widows, Vebnet CEO and Managing Director of the Standard Life Wrap business.  A qualified actuary, Ronnie’s main interests out with work are watching football and playing golf.

Nick joined us from KPMG in January 2019 where he was a partner and most recently responsible for delivering a number of change and transformation programmes for a wide range of wealth and asset management companies.

Before that he was Head of Technology at Fidelity Investment Management and led the UK business transformation programme and strategic redesign of their new target technical and operational architectures. 

Throughout his career, Nick has demonstrated a great passion for innovation and disruption, designing and building market leading customer experiences and leading global teams.

Gill Scott - Human Resources Director

Gill leads our HR function, working in partnership with the business to deliver an organisation-wide approach to people management, talent retention and development, employee engagement and performance, contributing to the sustainability and profitability of the organisation through the appropriate resourcing and the development and reward of our people.  

Prior to joining Aegon UK, she went from university into roles in Retail, including a very interesting year in Harrods, London, which ignited her passion for serving the customer through excellent people.

James Mackenzie - General Counsel

James is General Counsel and Company Secretary of Aegon UK. As part of his role James leads the UK Legal and Company Secretariat department. James has been with Aegon for nine years, having previously worked in Shepherd and Wedderburn’s corporate finance team.
