Updating National Insurance numbers on SmartPay

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) now supply us with customer National Insurance (NI) numbers. As a result, we no longer allow the NI numbers we hold on our system to be overwritten in SmartPay via your import file.

You'll only be able to update an NI number manually on the Update Member page where we hold a temporary NI number and you're replacing it with a permanent NI number.

If you believe the NI number we hold for a member is incorrect, you can call us on 03456 10 00 01. If the number on our records hasn’t been matched against the file supplied by HMRC, we’ll be happy to update it for you.
