Aberdeen Life Multi-Asset (excluding property) Lifestyle fund

This is a lifestyle fund. Which means it initially focuses on growth by investing in higher-risk funds. As you move closer to your retirement date they gradually and automatically move to funds designed to preserve the size of pension you can buy.

This first table relates to the first stage of the lifestyle fund when you’re in the growth phase, which is when you’re eight or more years away from retirement.

Description Until eight years before the start of your retirement year, the fund provides exposure to UK and international equities (shares) as well as bonds and cash
Objective To maximise the value of pension savings, achieving long-term returns that are ahead of inflation.
As retirement nears and the lifestyle phasing starts, the fund aims to help make sure the amount of pension you can buy doesn’t fluctuate dramatically.
ABI sector of underlying fund Mixed Investment 40%-85% Shares
Fund manager’s benchmark Median return for the balanced section of the Russell/Mellon CAPS Pooled Pension Fund Survey
Fund management team Aberdeen Multi-asset team
Current additional disclosable expenses 0.15%

Risk parameters Before the switching, the fund invests predominantly in equities and may fluctuate in value. Your capital may
fall as well as rise and you may get back less than the amount originally invested.

The table below shows the switching process that happens when you’re eight years from the start of your retirement year, and gives details at the start of each year leading up to retirement.

These switches are carried out on a predetermined basis and will happen automatically every month within the lifestyle fund. You won’t see the underlying fund names on your statements.

Charges

Some funds have an additional cost for investing in them. This is because of additional expenses in the underlying investments, such as custody costs and administration costs. This is estimated and depends on the actual expenses incurred by the underlying fund, so what you actually pay may vary slightly. Where these costs add up to 0.024% or more, we’ve disclosed them in the fund details section.

In addition to any investment charges we also apply an annual management charges (AMC), for the management of your plan.  For this scheme the AMC is 0.35%.  Aberdeen will continue to invest in funds with a 0.7% charge, however we apply a monthly fund rebate charge of 0.35% which gives a final AMC of 0.35%.

Aberdeen offset this AMC by making an annual employer single premium payment equivalent to 0.35%. This is made directly to your pension policy.
