Pensions Awareness campaign 2019

For intermediaries only

Pensions Awareness Day is 15 September every year with the aim of making the nation aware that they need to save more for their retirement.

Pension Geeks created the campaign and this year they toured the country in the lead up to Pensions Awareness Day to help people understand how much they'll need in retirement and what they need to do to achieve that.

We were proud to co-sponsor this and delighted to be involved this year hosting the opening day of the tour at our Head Office in Edinburgh.

Joining us on the opening day were Pension Geeks and the Pensions Advisory Service. Volunteering as part of the Pensions Geeks team for the week was James Biggs, Partner at Employee Benefits Collective LLP.

When we asked James about his day, here's what he had to say:

'I had the very best time in Edinburgh at Aegon on Monday 9 September. It was day one of the Pension Awareness Day tour and I joined in as a volunteer Pension Geek.

As an equity partner in a small but beautifully formed employee benefits consultancy, time is money and every penny counts. But volunteering to take part in this awesome public awareness initiative was a "no-brainer". It’s important that people engage personally. Our industry is focussed heavily in the direction of financial wellbeing, but its early days to evaluate the impact. For me though, meeting employees in any capacity to spur them on is what it's all about. Well done Aegon for sponsoring such a campaign and for allowing their own employees to benefit from the positive pension love.'

You can find out more the initiative on the Pensions Awareness website(Opens new window) and who knows next year you could also get involved.
