Anyone for tennis?

As Lead Partner of British Tennis, we’re excited about the start of the summer tennis season.

Aegon proudly sponsor some of the UK’s most prestigious tournaments including the Aegon Classic Birmingham, the Aegon Open Nottingham, the Aegon International Eastbourne and not forgetting the Aegon Championships at the historic Queen’s Club. However, did you know that we're also working with the LTA to help the country’s most promising young tennis stars make the most of their talent?

At Aegon, we believe it’s vital to prepare early for future success. This programme identifies the top emerging young talent from across Britain and ensures that they receive the right support to develop their tennis careers whether that’s as a player, coach or another role within the sport.

There are currently approximately 100 players on the Aegon FutureStars Programme, ranging from 11 to 16 years old. These young players are invited to National Performance Camps at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton over the course of the year, based on their individual talent assessment.

We took one of our most promising Aegon FutureStars, 14 year old Jack Draper, to New York to meet his tennis idol, John McEnroe. Jack spent three days training at the John McEnroe Academy and made the most of the world-class facilities and coaching on offer, dedicating hours on court and in fitness sessions too.

This culminated with a one-on-one coaching session with John McEnroe where Jack learnt first-hand from the man himself and came away with invaluable advice. Jack is currently one of the top five players in the world in his 2001 year group and is certainly one to watch out for in the future. We’re proud to give the youngsters an exclusive training kit and with the LTA, provide unique opportunities for them such as training with some of the UK’s top talents. It’s all part of our mission to help the UK get ready for the future.
