HS Administrative Services Limited, part of AEGON UK the leading life and pensions firm, has donated £2,045 to two well known charities thanks to the efforts by staff at its Daresbury offices. The two charities are Marie Curie Cancer Care and the NSPCC.

The staff at AEGON’s Daresbury offices worked throughout 2007 to raise funds for the charities by holding regular events such as dress down days. AEGON has matched the total raised by their staff, meaning each charity has received over £1,000.

The two charities were selected following an employee vote early in 2007. Employees were invited to select the charity they wanted from a list of over 10, all of which had been nominated by HS Administration staff.

The local charities benefiting are:

Marie Curie Cancer Care:

Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, they expect to provide care to around 27,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in their hospices this year, along with support for their families.

The money raised by HS Admin will, amongst other things, support Marie Curie in running the 10 hospices that are found throughout the UK, including one in Liverpool.

NSPCC:

Their aim is to protect children from cruelty, support vulnerable families, campaign for changes to the law and raise awareness about abuse.

With the NSPCC, the money raised will be spent helping children locally. Two specific initiatives in the local area are the Young Witness Support scheme and the Domestic Violence Forum.

The charities received their cheques today at a presentation held in Daresbury, attended by Mark Adamson, HS Admin staff and the charity representatives.
