Community involvement

Making a difference in our local communities

We’re very much a part of the local communities that we live and work in. To make sure we have a positive effect on these communities, we’ve developed the Community Involvement Programme. This focuses on three main areas:

  • projects in the community
  • employee volunteering
  • sharing AEGON resources and skills

We also support local talent. AEGON has partnerships with three promising Scottish golfers: brothers Lloyd and Elliot Saltman, and Catriona Matthew. Find out more.

AEGON Breakfast Club

AEGON Breakfast Club

In 2007, we launched the AEGON Breakfast Club in Edinburgh, in partnership with the Heart of Midlothian Education and Community Trust and the City of Edinburgh Council. This exciting initiative aims to fund breakfast clubs in every primary school in the city, giving the children a healthy start to the day, and is something our staff are very involved with.

Lytham Young Enterprise Scheme

In Lytham, we’re one of the sponsors of the Young Enterprise Scheme. This initiative helps 15 to 18-year-olds start up and manage their own business, giving them invaluable experience. Our own employees are on hand to offer advice and insight.

Team days in the community

We’re now offering teams within our business the chance to have a day out working with a charity. For example, in November our Corporate Service team spent a day with the Scottish Wildlife Trust, building paths at the wildlife centre. Both parties benefit, with the trust getting some enthusiastic workers and the managers getting the chance to develop their skills on a rewarding project.

And we’re committed to finding more ways to help our local communities. After all, it’s in everyone’s interest to build strong links and work together for a prosperous and stable environment.
