Brief Description of the Department:

Based at our Head Office in Edinburgh Park, the Statutory reporting department is responsible for all key external reporting for the AEGON UK Group. This includes reporting to AEGON NV, our ultimate parent company and setting the requirements for statutory reporting of the AEGON UK Group and its subsidiaries.

AEGON is globally committed to Market Consistent financial reporting and this cutting edge role at the forefront of accountancy embraces this new phase of reporting in the life industry. As Market Consistent Reporting Manager, you will drive, plan and manage the new Market Consistent reporting basis from the early design stage through implementation to completion.

The reported outputs will directly impact the capital position of AEGON UK and will be central to all key aspects of future reporting for Solvency II, IFRS phase II and MCEV.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Produce, implement, plan and deliver the reporting Group Market Consistent deadlines over the next 2 years to ensure deadlines are met, communicating progress deadlines on a regular basis to the project team
  • Develop an understanding of AEGON UK’s business and underlying reporting to enable the explanation of results reported from the new Market Consistent reporting process
  • Actively review current processes and produce a level of process documentation that enables a fast track/fast close process to be enabled and a future state gap analysis to be prepared
  • Plan and implement the new process to meet quarterly Market Consistent reporting timelines in line with normal quarter end reporting and complementing the current IFRS reporting.
  • Facilitates audit (internal and external) review of quarterly reporting process
  • Assists with and contributes to other financial reporting projects as agreed with the Financial Reporting Project Manager

Requirements:

Essential:

  • CA, ACA, ACCA qualified or equivalent
  • Strong technical accounting skills, preferably gained in a life insurance office or large accountancy firm with an understanding of actuarial concepts
  • Significant experience of quarterly external reporting disciplines and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Well developed communication and relationship management skills

Desirable:

  • Fast close/process redesign
  • Detailed knowledge of IFRS reporting
  • Full appreciation of controls and audit regulations and familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley regulations
  • Strong project management skills combined with medium to long term planning ability
