AEGON Trustee Solutions is responsible for a range of services for Occupational Pension Schemes (primarily defined benefit) including documentation, actuarial support, administration including new scheme installations and scheme wind ups. Within AEGON Trustee Solutions, AEGON Actuarial Services provides all scheme actuarial support and advice.

As the business has developed, our actuarial services have grown to incorporate a wider range of consulting work, beyond the regulatory Scheme Actuary responsibilities. The Consulting Actuary will focus on employer consultancy support (eg financial & accounting plans), plus investment consultancy work.

Responsibilities:

The Consulting Actuary will work directly with his client (employer and/or trustees), providing expert actuarial support, whilst also supporting the existing key intermediary relationship.

The Consulting Actuary will work as part of a small specialist actuarial team within AEGON Trustee Solutions, building up presence for consultancy project work within the existing AEGON Trustee Solutions client base.

Responsibilities will include:

• Use technical knowledge, experience and initiative to propose appropriate solutions to the financial issues facing employers and trustees.
• Promote actuarial services, leading to the management and negotiation of consultancy projects to deliver specialist (non-Scheme Actuary) actuarial work to the existing AEGON Trustee Solutions client base
• Retain a Scheme Actuarial appointment to a limited number of existing AEGON Trustee Solutions clients, delivering regulated trustee services meeting professional and business standards.
• Support new business sales activities
• Participate in AEGON Corporate development projects as required.
• Prepare and Present pension scheme strategic asset allocation advice.
• Provide investment advice to new and existing clients, covering the AEGON Trustee Solutions proposition plus the investment fund range available from AEGON Scottish Equitable investment partners.

Requirements:

Essential:

• Client facing experience
• Post qualified experience and holding the Scheme Actuary Certificate
• Experience within the consulting actuarial market

Desirable:

• Knowledge of UK Group Annuity market
